Catherine & Chris's pre-wedding shoot....a sneaky peak

The pre-wedding shoot is always an exciting but nerve-wracking experience for my bride and grooms and just being able to quickly see an end result really helps to reassure them about the photographs for their wedding day. I always start off with good intentions when I’m picking the ’sneaky peak’ – “I’ll just grab the first good photograph I see and then pop it on!” But that never happens and picking just one is quite frankly difficult!

I’m sure I make it far too difficult for myself; it has to be one that the couple will love, one that sums up their personalities, one that shows off the venue, one that not only them but their parents will love……the list goes on. Just as I get cross with myself for being indecisive I remind myself……..surely there are worse things for a wedding photographer to be, than a perfectionist!

This week I had the pleasure of meeting up with Catherine & Chris again for their planning meeting and pre-wedding shoot. They booked me back last summer so it feels like ages since I saw them and it was great to catch up on all the exciting plans for their wedding day. They are getting married in the most idyllic church just outside of Bristol and then having their reception at Folly Farm near Pensford. I have never photographed a wedding at Folly Farm before and I was ‘bowled over’ at how beautiful it is….the perfect setting for a gorgeous wedding!

Catherine & Chris had mentioned that they were very camera shy so I decide to make use of the quiet surrounding countryside and ‘ease them in gently’. However, when it came to it….I was amazed….they were brilliant and so relaxed! They clearly love each others company and laughed at (& with!) each other the whole way through the shoot….it was so lovely to watch.

Catherine & Chris – you were both great and you have nothing to worry about for the big day. We got some fabulous photographs and I can’t wait to shoot your wedding in June!

Here is a (very much deliberated over) sneaky peak…..

Your Bristol & Somerset Wedding magazine

I just had a very exciting email from the editor of Your Bristol & Somerset Wedding magazine. She loved the images on my blog of Liz & Russell’s wedding and have asked if the magazine can feature them as a Real Life wedding in their June / July issue……I’m delighted! AND the best news of all….they have also asked if they can use one of the photographs as their front cover image too!

I’m bowled over as I know lots of photographers submit their work so it’s a real compliment to not only have a feature but also the prestigious front cover spot too.

It goes without saying that Liz & Russell are delighted. After all the hard work they put into organising such a beautiful day, they will see it in print!

There were so many gorgeous photographs from their day I could blog forever…..

Pat & Claire's Wedding

I’ve not been so good at blogging lately. I’ve been taking advantage of the gorgeous ’spring scenes’ to do some beautiful location portraits and with that and a few early weddings and lots of pre-wedding shoots, time has been at a premium. I promise to ’step it up’ the next few weeks!

I had THE most fabulous pre-wedding shoot yesterday with the lovely Pat & Claire, just outside of Bristol. Their house has beautiful grounds so we decided it was the perfect location for their engagement shoot. Having just moved they have lots of bare walls they want to cover with photographs and wanted the pictures to be really personal. They are also having their wedding reception at the house so it was the perfect opportunity for me to have a look round and spot the the best places for photography on the day.

At the bottom of their garden is a huge wood where the light was DIVINE! It’s full of tall tree’s, bluebells just about to bloom and wild garlic….it’s so pretty. We had a ball exploring and finding some amazing places to shoot. The slope up and down there is VERY steep and I’m still amazed that Claire managed to get up and down there in her flip-flops – the girl is so glamorous!

Pat & Claire – thank you for a lovely, sunny afternoon relaxing in the garden and I hope you have the most amazing time in Vegas…..I really want to see some photographs!

I really couldn’t decide which photograph to choose for the ’sneaky peak’ and I know it’s not the woods but I just LOVE the look of this. It’s so them…..glamourous, relaxed, happy and fabulous! Can’t wait until your wedding guys.
